GOFON Online Funerals is active throughout Belgium. This means that we can arrange funerals in Flanders, Wallonia, and Brussels.
What steps should I follow to arrange a funeral via GOFON?
Step 1: Choose the package that suits you.
Step 2: Choose the coffin.
Step 3: Indicate the place of death and fill in the municipality where the death occurred.
Step 4: If you have chosen a cremation option, select the crematorium of your choice. You can also indicate here if you wish to have a ceremony.
Step 5: Choose the options you want.
Step 6: If you have chosen a cremation package, indicate the destination of the ashes here.
Step 7: Select your preferred date for the funeral.
Step 8: Enter all the details of the deceased.
Step 9: Fill in your own details and choose the payment method.
Does GOFON provide support for both burials and cremations?
With GOFON Online Funerals, you can choose between a burial or a cremation. All our packages are available in both burial and cremation variants.
For a burial, you have the option to bury the deceased in a cemetery, usually the cemetery of the place of residence. A free grave is included in all our packages. If you wish for a concession for a longer period, you can always request information from us.
For a cremation, you have different options for the ashes' destination:
- Scattering of ashes on the crematorium grounds
- Scattering of ashes at the cemetery of the place of residence
- Scattering of ashes at sea (more information available from us)
- Scattering of ashes on the Scheldt in Antwerp
- Home retention
- Grave concessions (more information available from us)
How much does it cost to arrange a funeral via GOFON, and what packages are available?
For an overview of all packages and prices, you can visit the homepage of GOFON.
During the process, you will see the total price corresponding to each choice you make.
The price you see at the end is the final price; there are no additional costs.
A burial is possible from €990, and a cremation from €1705.
What about the formalities, such as arranging the death certificate?
GOFON handles all administrative formalities for you with the municipality.
We declare the death to the municipality where the death took place.
We then receive the death certificate, which we send directly to you by email. We also provide a few printed copies.
You will also receive a guide with all the administrative steps you need to take further.
Are there options for catering or receptions after the funeral through GOFON?
Via the platform itself, it is not possible to arrange catering or receptions, but we are happy to help by providing additional information.
Depending on the location and region, we have partners we can put you in contact with to organize a reception or funeral meal.
If you choose a cremation with a ceremony in the crematorium's auditorium, it is also possible to hold the reception or funeral meal in the crematorium's halls.
We can provide you with the necessary information and rates on this.
Can I have mourning cards and other print materials designed and sent via GOFON?
The BASIC PLUS package includes 25 mourning cards and 25 mourning leaflets as standard. Do you want other quantities? That is possible, for a small additional fee.
If you opt for the BASIC package, mourning print materials are not included. On request, we can always arrange mourning print materials for you. Feel free to contact us for this.
When the mourning cards are printed, you can collect them from our office near Brussels. If desired, we can also send them to your address by post.
The mourning leaflets are distributed during the funeral ceremony, and we can edit the photo for use on the leaflet.
If you need extra mourning cards or leaflets later, that is not a problem; you can always reorder from us.
All printed materials, including the design of the mourning cards, are made in-house. If you cannot find your choice on our website, you can always request additional designs by email.
What are the options for choosing music during the ceremony?
During a ceremony in an auditorium, four pieces of music are generally chosen:
- One piece for entering the auditorium.
- Two pieces during the ceremony, with the option to display photos.
- One piece for leaving the auditorium.
What payment options are available for paying for the funeral via GOFON?
You can pay via the website, after completing all the steps, through a secure payment platform. This can be done with Maestro, Mastercard, and Visa.
If you wish, you can also pay with Bancontact at our office near Brussels, by appointment or at another location and time by arrangement.
Payment by bank transfer is also possible. You will then receive an invoice with the payment details.
Does GOFON offer support for international deaths and repatriation?
Yes, GOFON can also assist in cases of death abroad, where the coffin or urn is brought back to Belgium. We can also help if you want to repatriate the coffin or urn to another country.
The rules and procedures differ per country, so please contact us for specific information and guidance.
Gravestone
Placing a gravestone is not always mandatory. If you do want to place a gravestone, we can assist you.
Every cemetery and concession has different rules for gravestones. Contact us for more information or for a non-binding offer.
We can also supply porcelain grave photos, vases, and other accessories.
Ash jewelry and urns
It is also possible to order ash jewelry and urns via GOFON. Contact us for more information.

The date of the funeral is always set in consultation. Where possible, we take into account the preferred date you indicate during the ordering process.
The usual time between death and the funeral is 4 to 5 days.
Is it possible to have personal contact, even though it is an online service?
Yes, personal contact is very important to us, especially for a funeral or farewell. We are always there for you if you have questions or need help.
Although GOFON is an online service, this does not mean that we are not personally available for you. You can reach us by phone to make an appointment and visit us at our office.
Are there options for a personal touch to the funeral, such as music and speakers?
Yes, there are various options for personalizing the funeral.
You can choose to complement the ceremony with your own texts (self-written or selected) and your favorite music pieces.

What should I do in case of a death, and how can GOFON help?
In the event of a death at home, it is important to first contact a doctor to officially confirm the death.
Then you can contact GOFON directly. We guide you step by step through the entire process, from choosing the funeral package to arranging all administrative formalities.
Our online service simplifies the process so you can plan the funeral in peace. We handle the declaration to the municipality, the death certificate, and support you in further choices, such as the type of funeral, location, and mourning print materials.
Is it possible to arrange and pay for a funeral in advance, for example, for my own funeral?
Yes, that is possible. For this, we have developed the GOFON Everly package, which allows you to arrange your own funeral or that of a loved one in advance.
After your request via our website, we will contact you for a non-binding proposal and the drafting of a funeral contract.
This contract can then be registered with your municipality, so it is known to everyone.
Regarding the payment: you can choose to pay the amount in one go, in installments, or by taking out a funeral insurance policy.
What documents do I need to arrange a funeral?
To arrange a funeral, you need the ID card of the deceased. GOFON helps you with the death registration and obtaining the necessary documents.
What happens if I want to change certain choices after placing an order?
You can always make changes to your choices. Simply communicate them via email.
